Podcasts To Blast You Into The Stratosphere
Every December we witness a massive number of business and personal development bloggers talk about reflecting on the year gone and planning for the next.
Better Business Better Life has been too and for good reason. Reviewing and strategizing is important (although sometimes I think we should consider a focus period that isn’t quite so busy with festivities).
The other vital decisions you need to make are…
-
Am I taking a break over the festive season or working?
-
If I take a break, how can I minimise loss of momentum?
Only you can know if working through or not is better for you and your blog and/or business. Don’t feel any guilt regardless of the choice you make.
You can maintain momentum with a whole variety of strategies such as having guest bloggers like Vmac + Cheese did last summer. You might reduce opening hours or maintain skeleton staffing. An often forgotten option is to prioritise personal development.
As a motivated reader you might identify personal and business growth opportunities in books such as:
- Getting Things Done by David Allen
- Start With Why by Simon Sinek
- $100 StartUp by Chris Guillebeau (I’m currently reading and loving this.)
- 31 Days To Build A Better Blog by Darren Rowse
Of course if you are on the road travelling home to family or away seeking rest and relaxation you won’t have as much time to be reading.
That’s why podcasts are fabulous.
Put your earphones in or hook your ipod up to the car stereo and you’ve got a readymade classroom.
I’ll be travelling over the Christmas period and have stocked up on sessions from my favourite podcasters in iTunes. I thought I’d share them with you so you can learn from AND enjoy them as well.
Social Media Marketing Podcast with Michael Stelzner
You will love the jungle intro music which fits perfectly with Michael’s brand as well as the short, snappy segments that talk about anything from Pinterest to Facebook to blogging to videos to establishing trust.
The Smart Passive Income Podcast with Pat Flynn
Pat was the first podcaster I listened to and I still tune in to this day. The podcasts are generally Pat interviewing another leader about building blogs and business or Pat hosting and sharing his personal expertise. I’ve listened to all sessions at least three times and continue to pick up absolute gems of ideas.
PreneurCast with Pete Williams and Dom Goucher
Pete Williams is a young Australian entrepreneur famous for selling pieces of the MCG. He owns multiple businesses and was dubbed Australia’s answer to Richard Branson. PreneurCast features Pete getting down to the nitty gritty of mixing business with online marketing. Dom Goucher teases the knowledge from Pete then finishes every episode with a key action for the listener.
Small Business, Big Marketing Podcast with Tim Reid
Another Aussie, Tim interviews a successful small business owner each session to identify marketing tactics that can be adapted and applied to listeners’ businesses. Tim is super passionate about small business owners and their ability to adapt quickly to changes in the market compared with their larger counterparts.
Definitely consider unwinding while listening to these or other podcasts over the festive season. You’ll be brimming with ideas to blast into the New Year.
Do you listen to a podcast? Which would you recommend?
P.S. You might have seen it on the Better Business Better Life Facebook page earlier this week but in case you didn’t here’s a little secret…
Marissa Roberts of Beautifully Organised and I have been very busy putting together an ebook that will help launch your blog into the stratosphere.
It will be released to the public on New Year’s Day but I’d love you to join the BBBL Legends List. That way you’ll enjoy the benefits of early access, a big discount and some surprises.
