Client attraction. Business growth. Pretty profits.
Want To Succeed? Pick A Theme For 2013
The extraordinarily brilliant Facebook expert Mari Smith chooses one word each year as her theme. In the past they’ve included growth and commitment. For 2013 she’s chosen abundance.
I’ve loved this concept since I first came across it and after I witnessed its ability to guide people in achieving wonderful results via Elle Roberts and the Artful Business Conference (plus Studio Exsto launching 7th January) I knew I needed to adopt it.
The best way to adopt something you love is to examine it then make it work for you.
So this is my theme for 2013:
GO BIG, CONSISTENTLY
I’ll be applying go big, consistently to both business and personal life.
Now I realise you’re probably looking at the screen right now with *this girl is crazy* eyes. Especially as I spent the first two paragraphs highlighting ONE WORD.
I know. Stay with me. (And please don’t give me crazy eyes).
2013 is a fresh start and I’m incredibly excited. I want to do and experience so many things. I’ve learned that if you’re going to go big you need to act consistently and leverage the activities to maximise your results. After all who wants to build massive momentum and push hard only to create one-off results.
To me go big, consistently means taking action, being brave and doing it regularly. No one hit wonder.
Plus I thought it had a nice ring to it.
Yes, I’ve set specific goals and created action plans to implement over the coming months but when it comes to evaluating opportunities and experiences I want these theme to guide me.
No shying away just in case I fail.
In line with my theme I’m currently in discussions regarding two possible collaborations, have created outlines for two new info products and committed to eight guest posts this month (some already written). Oh and I’m doing this little thing called the Ultimate Blog Challenge.
Now Over To You
Have you considered choosing a one word theme for 2013 (or three if you like)? Do you think it would be helpful? Are there other strategies you use to achieve your definition of success? Please share below!
Gulp. I still need to get on the boat with guest posting! I have only one scheduled and it’s all the way in March!! (Technically, I think I have 2 lined up but the other one didn’t give me a date so it seemed iffy and just “whenever she gets to it.” Urg!)
Inspiring message for sure and my theme is transformation and I’m sure going big embodies that too!!
Great stuff Janet! Love your theme.
I only guest posted twice last year but they were great fun and expanded my readers. Definitely go for it.
Best wishes for 2013!
Caylie
Love it Caylie! you go girl – I have no doubt that you will go big and it will be consistent! 2 days into the new year and from what I can read you’re on fire already. Great stuff!
Wishing you a limitless life filled with succulent, effortless success,
Shannon, Creative Possibility Coach
Hi Shannon,
Thank you so much for the encouragement! I know you will be doing amazing things too.
Keep kicking goals!
Caylie
Awesome Caylie! Sounds like you have set yourself up for success. I have done the same and my one word for the year is marketing. I want to learn more and do more of it.
Hi Shawn,
Great to see you doing UBC again! Ooooh, I love marketing! Have you got specific questions you’d like help with? Let me know 🙂
Cheers, Caylie
I really like the idea of choosing a theme for this year. I think mine will be:
RESILIENCE
Hi Nancy,
I love RESILIENCE! Awesome theme! Keep us in the loop with your progress.
Thanks for commenting.
Cheers, Caylie
I needed that today! Gotta stay focused on going big all the time.
Hi Catherine!
Thanks for visiting and commenting!
Glad I could offer a little prompt – what will you go big with?
Cheers,
Caylie
Nothing specific. I’m just putting into practice what I am learning. And I’m blogging about my pet project 365 Marketing.
Nice Shawn! I’ll be over to check that out!
On Dec. 27th, I posted the question on my Fan Page “what’s your word for 2013?” Got many delightful responses. My word is “nurture” – nurture myself, my business, my relationships. I’ll GO BIG with nurturing.
Here’s to a fabulous 2013. Thanks Caylie. ~Debra
P.S. See you in UBC!
Hi Debra,
Thanks so much for sharing! Nuturing is such a beautiful way to approach life.
Best wishes for UBC and 2013!
Cheers, Caylie
Thanks for the mention Caylie, as you know last year my word was BIG I wanted to go big and I believe I did!
This year my word is REAP – as in you reap what you sew. This is because my goals, both business and personal will require a lot of in put (the kind no one else sees) but I know it will be worth it when I REAP the rewards.
I am posting later about my 13 goals for 2013 and my word over at Studio Exsto so I’ll share it with you.
Great post!
Funny to read this now as I just announced my one word theme for this year and it’s PARTNERSHIPS because together we may achieve more. I love that your theme works so well with mine and I am looking forward to growing our partnership further in 2013 Caylie so that we can GO BIG CONSISTENTLY in PARTNERSHIP!!!
Hi Loren,
I’m so glad you chose this as your theme because I truly know you mean what you say. I’ve loved working with you and can’t wait to develop our partnership further thoughout the year.
Cheers,
Caylie
I am going with AWAKEN this year.
GO BIG CONSISTENTLY is definitely a winner!
All the best!
Thanks Eugene!
Really appreciate your comment. Awaken will definitely hold you in good stead. I’d love to know more of what it means for you.
May you be bright eyed and bushy tailed 🙂
Caylie
Way to go with the 8 guest post goal & partnerships!
My guest post goal is 3 for in January, and amazingly 2 are already lined up & one went live yesterday. I’m with you on this “theme”. I have often thought it “silly”, but this year Courage is coming up for me, loud and clear! I’m not going o focus on the whole year, yet. But I’m taking some courageous step today & tomorrow… from there I’ll make another decision to do it for a day.
Can’t wait to see what’s up for you next!!! Go Big!!
G’day Loralee,
Deciding to be courageous one day at a time is very clever. It’s so easy to choose a focus and promptly forget it when life gets in the way. By committing each day you will find great success.
Best wishes for 2013!
Caylie
Love your theme, Caylie. It’s one that truly inspires. My theme for the year is to keep it Simple, Authentic and Holistic.
Hi Corinne,
Simple, authentic and holistic is a beautiful way to approach life. Are there particular practices and values you intend to follow to achieve this?
Thanks for commenting!
Caylie
I really like you’re theme for 2013 and I think it’s a wonderful idea. Facing fears is probably mine, but there’s a lot of areas I’m working on.
Good luck in the blog challenge!
Hiya Crystal!
Facing fears is so critical to enjoying even more happiness and love of life. I’d love to hear more of what you will tackle in 2013. Just be careful not to try and solve everything at once only to end up with burnout.
Best wishes!
Caylie
Ok so here it is… with all the focus on this word in the past few months for me it has to be my theme for this year! LIMITLESS!
Thats great Shannon I LOVE IT!
What a killer theme Shannon! The best bit is I know you will rock it!
Keep kicking goals my friend!
YIKES! One Word? The theme so far is Discipline. Not inspiring, but apparently the key to what I need to do.
One suggestion: Change your font color back to black. I don’t know why designers think type should be grey, but it’s hard to read.
Hey there Charlotte,
Could discipline by transposed with consistency or focus if you want a more positive approach? Mind you there is nothing wrong with discipline. What is important is that you knnow what it means and that it will guide the achievement of your goals.
Cheers, Caylie
Actually, I decided to go with “systems” rather than “discipline. ” While it takes discipline to work a system, the system shows you what you accomplish with your discipline, and it does not carry the white-knuckled willpower of discipline.
Hi Charlotte,
Awesome that you’ve refined your theme with a more ‘positive, user-friendly’ outlook!
Thanks for coming back to share 🙂
Caylie
